چکیده
Visual object recognition is a process in which representations of objects are used to identify those objects in images. Recent psychophysical and physiological studies indicate that the visual system uses viewer-centered representations. In this chapter a recognition scheme that uses viewer-centered representations is presented. The scheme requires storing only a small number of views to represent an object. It is based on the observation that novel views of objects can be expressed as linear combinations of the stored views. This method is applied to rigid objects as well as to objects with more complicated structure, such as rigid objects with smooth surfaces and articulated objects.

Application of Combined Local Object Based Features and Cluster Fusion for the Behaviors Recognition and Detection of Abnormal Behaviors
In this paper, we propose a novel framework for behaviors recognition and detection of certain types of abnormal behaviors, capable of achieving high detection rates on a variety of real-life scenes. The new proposed approach here is a combination of the location based methods and the object based ones. First, a novel approach is formulated to use optical flow and binary motion video as the loc...

We propose an architecture for the recognition of three-dimensional objects on the basis of viewer centered representations and temporal associations. Motivated by biological ndings and by successful computational implementations we have chosen a viewer centered representation scheme. In contrast to other implementations , special attention is paid to the temporal order of the views, which prov...

متن کاملCombining Structural Descriptions and Image-based Representations for Image, Object, and Scene Recognition
Object and scene learning and recognition is a major issue in computer vision, in robotics and in cognitive sciences. This paper presents the principles and results of an approach which extracts structured view-based representations for multi-purpose recognition. The structures are hierarchical and distributed and provide for generalization and categorization. A tracking process enables to bind...

The question of whether object representations in the human brain are objectcentered or viewer-centered has motivated a variety of experiments with divergent results. A key issue concerns the visual recognition of objects seen from novel views. If recognition performance depends on whether a particular view has been seen before, it can be interpreted as evidence for a viewer-centered representa...
